Biography
Chrissie is an Australian artist currently living between the Daintree Rainforest National Park & Port Douglas in the FNQ.
She credits a lifetime of travel and the pursuit of an artistic lifestyle as her constant school of learning.
As inspiration, Chrissie uses her life in the tropics, her memories of travel and experiences around the world.
Chrissie’s main body of work has consisted mostly of commercial and private commissions, exhibiting in several group exhibitions and galleries.
Current Work
Chrissie is having fun creating her paint from pigments that she grinds down by hand and then mixes it to her chosen consistency and hue. The pigment colour depth and purity best interpret the visual idea of her work.
She also paints watercolours in the field to capture composition, light, and colour to take back to the studio for oil and acrylic paintings.
During this process, she discovered that watercolour paintings embrace structural simplicity that only watercolour can, in its primitive form.
In the ’90s, Chrissie co-founded a cooperative gallery space called “Painters and Collectors”, which supported and promoted young artists living and working in the area.
She now runs “Art in Transit Port Douglas” an artist workshops from her guest house in Cape Tribulation, Daintree National park.
All her work is available as a print reproduction.
